Day Seven....Lanzhou China · September 06, 2007

Today started out with a very happy girl.  She woke up smiling and happy.  No crying !  She actually walked with us to breakfast singing and clapping her hands.  She is so much fun !

After breakfast we took a long ride with our driver and guide to the hydro-power station.  It was way up in the mountians, a very steep narrow road in the rain.  It took about 1 1/2 hours to get there.  Once there we boarded a very small speed boat ( 8 person capacity ) and started on our journey to a buddhist temple.  It seemed to be on an island, but not sure about that.  It took about 1 hour to get to the island. The boat ride was very bumpy and kind of scary.  The scenerey was breathtaking, hopefully the pictures we post will do it justice.  When we got to the island we could not believe how beautiful it was.  We walked for about 1 1/2 hours around a mountian path.  There was a Buddah carved into the mountian side.  It was about 20 stories high and just amazing to see.  The temple was beautiful and we were able to light incense for good luck.  We left the island and traveled again by speed boat back to the hydro-power station.  We had lunch at a very small local resturant.  Our meal was very good and the people were very nice.  We then headed back to the hotel.

Tomorrow, we will fly down to the city of Guangzhou (about a 2 1/2 hours flight) where we will go to the American Consulate and get Maya's visa. This we be Maya's first trip on an airplane! We will be in Guangzhou until Monday, then on to Hong Kong!!
